ABC will film the pilot episode of its new series Secrets & Lies in Wilmington, North Carolina, and it was announced today the Oscar nominated actress Juliette Lewis (Natural Born Killers) will star in the series along with Ryan Phillippe (I Know What You Did Last Summer).
Per The Hollywood Reporter, Lewis will play Andrea Cornell, the unflappable, somewhat formidable detective conducting the investigation into the slaying of 4-year-old Tom Mullen who has her sights set on Ben (Phillippe), the loving father who found the boy’s body.
The character is described as “incredibly professional, hard to read who can come across as intentionally odd with a disconcerting calm who is often if not always the smartest person in the room.”
As previously reported, Ryan Phillippe will star in the drama as a patriarch who becomes the prime suspect in the murder of a young boy when he finds the body in ABC’s American adaptation of the Australian series Secrets & Lies.
Phillippe previously worked in Southport, North Carolina filming the horror slasher I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997).
Production offices are opening at EUE / Screen Gems Studios, and filming could begin as early as this month.
